SBD Presents at AvaMed’s Event
Solutions By Design (SBD) is proud to have taken part in AdvaMed’s Sunshine Implementation Working Group & Physician-Owned Companies Working Group on January 24, 2017.
VIRGINIA, January 24, 2017 – “It was a real honor taking part in such an important event and one that is so close to my heart,” said Doug Brown, VP Health Programs, SBD.
The Sunshine Act (or the Open Payments Program) is part of the on-going move toward transparency, making the financial ties that pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers have with physicians and teaching hospitals available to the public. The program is now entering its fourth year of operation and will soon release information on these relationships in June of 2017. The public data sets can be found on a website maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) at CMS.gov/Openpayments.
“My role at CMS was to help stand up the program from its beginning, alongside the other talented and smart people in my group, it’s good to see the program continue to mature in meaningful ways,” Mr. Brown added.
Doug’s involvement in the workgroup consisted of participating in a panel discussion alongside other thought leaders in the transparency space, including AARP and the Pew Charitable Trusts. “SBD would like to thank the members of AdvaMed for the invitation. We’re proud of the long list of subject matter experts we have on our team,” said Clyde Goldbach, Executive VP, SBD.
